The Cobra Group has been investing in a number of different industries and companies across a wide range of projects and has set up a global Group Investment Committee to identify, manage and get the best possible returns on its investments.
Our vision is to invest in projects that will deliver strategic value across the group and to provide entrepreneurs - be they individuals or existing companies with funding - expertise and guidance to help create growth and success in their journey.
Not limited to but our preference is to invest in projects that have synergy with our core businesses and where possible develop value creation opportunities within our core expertise of face-to-face sales and marketing.
So far we've had spectacular success with our investments, including Australia Power & Gas (APK on the ASX), FirstFolio (FFF on the ASX), CRS Racing, TecProtec and Get Covered. And we have a range of new investments currently being assessed in social media, contact centres, payment systems and a global BPO program.
For start ups we work with management teams in the initial incubation and investment phase by providing funding, business management support and guidance as they move into fully fledged companies in their own right.
From there we continue to provide the support to ensure the company is on track to achieving its objectives and potential.
This continues until the time is right to close the loop, be it a straight out sale, private equity play or listing.
The investment committee reports to the Cobra Group Board and its members include the group CEO, group CFO and a full time Group Investment Director.
Michael Hogg, based in Singapore, has recently moved into the role of Group Investment Director on a full time basis and will be taking a global view of Cobra's investment opportunities.
Over the last 10 years Mr Hogg has been instrumental in driving a change agenda which has lead to a significant growth phase for the group worldwide.
He was global CEO for seven of these years and having achieved everything he set out to achieve has moved into the investment role to pursue his passion of identifying and structuring high-level international investment opportunities.
Michael will not be only identifying new investment opportunities he will also be working with Cobra's Board to manage the existing investment portfolio.
