Appco supports energy sales code
Energy sales to be regulated with the launch of a new code of conduct in Australia
January 27, 2012
Appco Group Energy in Australia is a member of Energy Assured Limited, the newly formed energy regulator, which has recently announced a new code of conduct for the energy sector.
The code, which has been devised to ensure ethical and fair conduct by door-to-door salespersons to consumers across Australia, officially launched in January 2012.
Across Australia the code was introduced by Energy Assured Limited’s CEO, Anne Whitehouse and Chairman, Cameron O’Reilly and a Minister of Parliament from each State.
During the State-by-State unveiling of the code, it was revealed there are approximately 1,800 door-to-door sales people in the energy industry, and this Code would help govern the practices of these individuals.
Some of the new rules to be introduced by the Code include:
• Being courteous and respectful to the residents wishes
• Only call on consumers during permitted times of the day
• Cease contact when a resident advises that the contact is inconvenient
Appco Group Australia Head of Sales Support, Regina de Wolf-Ngarimu is proud to acknowledge Appco Group Australia’s involvement and acceptance of this new Code.
“This Code will improve the operations of Field Representatives, and we are proud to play a part in implementing the new regulations. This will help clear up any grey areas regarding the rights of residents when approached by door-to-door energy salespersons,” said Ms de Wolf-Ngarimu.
Australian Power & Gas, Appco Group Australia’s energy client is tracking well and believes that 2012 will be a great year for the industry with the new Code of Conduct and growing price of amenities.
